New postdoc position opened!
We are pleased to announce the opening of a new postdoc position! We are looking for an enthusiastic postdoc who will strengthen our team in research and experimental development in the framework of our ERC StG “distort-to-grasp”. The postdoc will perform experimental research in the field of nematicity and superconductivity with a focus on thermodynamic and transport-properties, contribute to the development of a new capacitance-based high-resolution technique targeting lattice distortions...
Crystal growth paper published!
31.08.23 | Allgemein
Our work on the development of a new container for high-temperature solution growth of alkali-containing compounds has been published in Crystals! Growing single crystals rich in alkali-metals is a challenge that was successfully tackled by Jutta Püttmann in her master's thesis. The manuscript is open access and can be found here: https://www.mdpi.com/2073-4352/13/9/1332. Congratulations, Jutta, on your first publication and thanks to everyone for their great work!
Registration open for “Blockpraktikum 503” this September
21.08.23 | Allgemein
Our compact lab course (Blockpraktikum) on experimental solid state physics will take place also this year in September, 18.9.2023-29.9.2023. The participants will grow their own single crystals from a high-temperature metallic flux and characterize their obtained single crystals using x-ray diffraction and electron microscopy. For registration, please send a message to by September 4th. If you have any questions, please contact Andreas Kreyssig ()...
New website online!
05.06.23 | News
After a long wait, our new website is finally online. With a combination of useful information, news and entertainment, it will accompany us in our growing research, teaching and all other endeavors. Thanks to everyone who was envolved in the process of getting it together!
New scanning electron microscope
On May 11, our new Coxem scanning electron microscope finally started operation. We are looking forward to many exciting results.
ERC Starting Grant
02.02.23 | News
We were awarded an ERC Starting grant for our research of subtle phase transitions! With the ERC grant, we will newly establish a novel “distortiometry” approach that will be at the center of a specialized programme based on distortions to get a grasp of nematic superconductivity. More information can be found here: EP4/research or RUB news.
